Dear Friend, As Oklahoma’s 2018 legislative session approaches, the state continues to struggle with huge and chronic budget shortfalls and an inability to make the critical investments needed to ensure our prosperity and well-being. We are seeing real and encouraging signs of progress towards the adoption of smarter policies, but obstacles still stand in our way. OK Policy’s 5th Annual State Budget Summit will bring together Oklahomans with an interest in state policy issues to gain a clearer sense of our challenges and how they can be resolved. The event will be held January 25th, 2018 at the Downtown/Medical Center Embassy Suites in Oklahoma City. The event will include an overview budget presentation by our Executive Director David Blatt, panel discussions involving leading experts on the state budget and criminal justice, and an exciting keynote speaker, Vanessa Williamson. Vanessa is a Fellow in Governance Studies at Brookings and the author of the new book: Read My Lips: Why Americans Are Proud to Pay Taxes. Click here for the full program or, to purchase tickets, click here. The cost of the Summit is $90 and includes lunch and a light breakfast. If you have questions about registration or the event, please call 918-794-3944 or email Shiloh Kantz, skantz@okpolicy.org. The State Budget Summit is a unique opportunity for policymakers, leaders and staff from government, business, and non-profit organizations, advocates, educators, and others to become better informed and more effectively engaged. We look forward to seeing you there! Best, The OK Policy Team Oklahoma Policy Institute 907 S Detroit Ave, Suite 1005 Tulsa, OK 74120 (918) 794-3944 info@okpolicy.org Unsubscribe | | |
