Dear Friend, Over the past weeks, Oklahomans have witnessed and participated in a powerful, broad-based movement to save public education. Teachers rallied day after day at the Capitol, backed by an outpouring of public support. This movement finally pushed lawmakers to pass Oklahoma's first tax increase in over 25 years to provide the funding needed for teacher pay raises and modest funding increases for schools. Teachers continue to mobilize to demand additional funding for our schools. Oklahoma Policy Institute has been an integral part of this movement, arming educators, parents, and other supporters of public education with the facts they need to be informed and effective advocates. Whether it's information about how state aid funding has dropped over the past decade or analysis of the capital gains exemption, OK Policy's research, infographics, and social media posts are widely shared and cited. One teacher emailed us last week saying, "These resources you have sent are just excellent! You have provided an outstanding service to Oklahoma by putting out the facts. Thanks to all of you at Oklahoma Policy Institute." A school principal commented: "There's so much misinformation out there, I'm grateful I can always count on you to set the record straight." An OEA leader said, "When I’m dreaming of a resource that would help me understand a complicated issue, I frequently find it on your site."
