Dear Friend, It's hard to believe that Oklahoma Policy Institute is coming up on our tenth year of advancing better policy for all Oklahomans through research, education, and advocacy. Now we are getting ready to celebrate with hundreds of our dearest friends and supporters at our 10th Anniversary Dinner on September 13th in Oklahoma City. Can you join us? We will hear from Ian Frazier, The New Yorker's award-winning humorist and feature writer and the only two-time winner of the Thurber Prize for American Humor. In addition, we will honor two of Oklahoma's most distinguished public servants, Sandy Garrett and Kris Steele, with our Good Sense/Good Cents Award for their lifetimes of civic engagement based on respectful political dialogue, sound fiscal stewardship, and concern for the less fortunate. Kris Steele will be introduced by Governor Brad Henry and Sandy Garrett will be introduced by Chuck Garrett, Vice-President of Cherokee Nation Businesses. Good Sense/ Good Cents Award recipients Kris Steele & Sandy Garrett Be a part of the celebration and help us look ahead to the future! This is an exciting time for OK Policy as we see our longstanding efforts to build the case for fair and adequate funding of public services lead to important progress at the Legislature. With several new projects now underway, including Kids Count, Open Justice Oklahoma, and the Mental Health Fellows Program, our growing staff is poised to work alongside a broad range of partners to make progress on Oklahoma's most pressing challenges. If you haven't purchased your tickets yet, you'll want to do so soon. We only have 100 tickets remaining, and we want to make sure you can be there with us! Ticket sales will end September 7th, unless we sell out of tickets before then! The event at the Oklahoma City Farmers Market starts with a reception at 6:00 pm followed by a full-course dinner catered by Rococo at 6:45. For our Tulsa-area friends, we will be providing free bus transportation to and from the event.
