To help connect Oklahoma college students and recent graduates with state policy issues, the Oklahoma Policy Institute will be hosting a five-day virtual event that will include presentations, panels, and live discussions. The Oklahoma Summer Policy Institute: 2021 Summer Series, to be held in online sessions Aug. 30 through Sept. 3, is expected to bring together college students for an informative five-day learning experience about pressing issues facing Oklahomans today. Programming for the OKSPI Summer Series will be offered in two-hour afternoon sessions during the five-day event. The application deadline is Sunday, August 15, 2021 at midnight. Apply Now OK Policy has held an in-person program, known as the Oklahoma Summer Policy Institute (OKSPI), each summer since 2013 until the pandemic forced the program into hiatus in 2020. The Summer Series is intended to help fill that need until the in-person program can safely return. The program offers participants a unique opportunity to become better informed about the most important Oklahoma policy issues, network with fellow students and leaders, and prepare for their future studies and work in policy-related fields. The OKSPI Summer Series will be hosted and led by the staff of OK Policy, a non-partisan, non-profit organization focused on advancing equitable and fiscally responsible policies that expand opportunity for all Oklahomans through non-partisan research, analysis, and advocacy. Additional panelists will include thought leaders and policymakers connected to issue areas such as health care, criminal justice, budget and tax, and child well-being. Apply Now The OKSPI Summer Series is open to current undergraduate or graduate students with at least 24 hours of college credit. Candidates must either attend an Oklahoma college or university, or have graduated from an Oklahoma high school. The program is also open to recent college graduates who completed their degree programs no earlier than the fall 2020 semester. The application deadline is Sunday, August 15, 2021 at midnight. The suggested cost to attend is $50, but no one will be denied a spot at the OKSPI Summer Series. To learn more or to apply, visit OKPolicy.org/OKSPI.
