Dear Friend, It's that time again! After an extra-long summer of special session, lawmakers put the finishing touches on the Fiscal Year 2024 budget. And, for now, that budget has been signed, appealed, and finalized. I've linked below OK Policy's annual analysis and highlights of the approved state budget, because as a taxpayer and resident, you deserve to know! |

We entered this legislative session in February dreading promised across-the-board tax cuts, and the anticipated fallout for vital state services. You can see in our budget analysis that much of that concern was mitigated. Although lawmakers often craft the budget behind closed doors, we all have a say in the bills that lead to those budget considerations. Thanks to pressure from OK Policy and our partners, the legislature finally funded some county-level services dictated by voters in the passage of State Question 781 over seven years ago. Oklahomans also raised their voices in response to OK Policy's advocacy alerts. Nearly 1,000 advocates made more than 42,000 connections with their elected officials to uphold Native American sovereignty, as well as SB 669 and HB 2114 that aimed to extend eligibility for drivers' licenses to all taxpayers to help make our roads safer. OK Policy is on your side and working to ensure that our elected officials have the data and information they need to make decisions in the best interest of everyday Oklahomans. We need your help to continue our work this year and every year! Your generous gifts fund the trusted research, thorough policy analysis, and statewide collaborative outreach that is helping Oklahoma to become the state we know it can be. Thank you for believing in Oklahoma through your support of the Oklahoma Policy Institute. Sincerely, Shiloh Kantz, Executive Director Oklahoma Policy Institute |
