Help us make a difference for Oklahoma families by contacting legislators today!   Oklahoma lawmakers are set to vote on bills this week that would separate parents from their children and could bar children from getting an education. HB 3071 is scheduled for the House General Government Committee at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday (Feb. 27). HB 3071 prohibits state funds from being used to provide "benefits" to undocumented individuals. These needlessly punitive and questionably legal bills would hurt our families and economy. HB 4090 is scheduled for the House Judicial-Criminal Committee at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (Feb 28). HB 4090 creates a minimum 10-year felony for any Oklahoman who is arrested and found to be undocumented. Email the committee members today and ask them to oppose HB 4090 and HB 3071.  Email Committee Members Our laws should reflect the needs of Oklahomans, not attack our communities with immigrant families. Punitive immigration policies like HB 4090 and HB 3071 don't deter migration. However, they do make our communities less safe. More than 63,000 Oklahomans live with at least one undocumented family member. HB 4090 would separate our neighbors from their loved ones and instill fear in our communities. Most state and federal benefits are already out of reach for undocumented immigrants. Clamping down even further could affect critical services we all benefit from, including emergency police services and public education.
