We know that towards the end of the year you are bombarded with appeals to give to worthy nonprofit organizations who do great work in our state and our communities. In an effort to inject a bit of levity to this season, we would like to persuade you to NOT donate to OK Policy. |

| #1 Facts are boring. As Oklahoma's trusted source for nonpartisan, evidence-based research, OK Policy doesn't just crunch numbers, we build data tools that help lawmakers understand how their policy decisions affect lives. But, if you trust state leaders to pass laws based solely on gut feelings and stock performance, then supporting OK Policy may not be for you.
| #2 Transparency is overrated. Guessing where tax dollars go is more fun. Do you have time to decode the dozen or more bills that make up Oklahoma's annual state budget? Do you want to? OK Policy cuts through the partisan gobbledygook to help keep you informed and the government accountable. We help Oklahomas understand the state budget, because your tax dollars can and should reflect real Oklahoma values, not political soundbites. But, if you like surprises about what public services are on the chopping block, you can save a few bucks by not making a contribution to OK Policy.

| #3 Who cares if Oklahoma kids are falling behind? Not my problem. The data tells a different story. According to KIDS COUNT, Oklahoma ranks near the bottom nationally in child well-being, education, health, and family economic security. Legislative inaction is a policy choice too, and the policy consequences are felt in our children's classrooms, where there are fewer teachers, and more families struggling. Unless, of course, you care more about the present than the future, then don't bother investing in children and families through a gift to OK Policy.

| #4 You're cynical. Lost all hope? Policy doesn't stop at schools. We feel the effects of bad policy changes when families lose insurance coverage, doctors flee the state, and employers refuse to choose Oklahoma. Hard-fought, good policy requires sustained advocacy, that's why we're empowering Oklahomans to keep showing up and speaking up to lawmakers. If you identify as a Grinch, Scrooge, or Krampus, then embracing the season of giving by supporting OK Policy may not be for you (yet).

| #5 Expanding opportunities for all Oklahomans? Pfft, that's too woke for me! Since OK Policy's founding, the state has expanded Medicaid, enacted crucial criminal justice reforms, and more. We will remain vigilant in protecting state revenue from lawmakers making even deeper cuts that would further harm the shared public services that help everyday Oklahomans thrive. There's more to do — and we're eager to get to work. But if you think opportunity is overrated, let's stick to the good ol' days of "I got mine, too bad for you."

It's been a tough year for Oklahoma. But the future is ours to shape. As 2025 comes to a close and we gear up for a challenging legislative session, the many reasons to give matter now more than ever. Your gift directly supports strengthening economic security for Oklahoma children and families, safer, healthier communities, and a more responsive state government. |
