"Help! Oil Tax Breaks are Drowning Our Schools!" T-shirts are in

As you likely know, Special Session has ended with the Legislature failing yet again to approve permanent new revenue or a pay raise for teachers. A comprehensive revenue bill, HB 1054, that included an increase in the GPT (gross production tax) on new wells from 2 to 4 percent, failed to get the needed 76 votes in the House. Oil and gas lobbying groups ran expensive ad campaigns opposing a hike in the GPT and hundreds of industry employees swarmed the Capitol in advance of the key vote.

We've put out plenty of issue briefs, fact sheets and statements making the case that tax breaks for oil and gas producers are unnecessary and are part of the reason we can never find the money to pay our teachers a decent salary, fund our schools, or have the other nice things most Oklahomans want. Now we're selling T-shirts! Designed by Tulsa-based artist Arianna Brandes, the T-Shirts are available in all sizes in either purple or gray for $20 (plus tax and postage) and can be purchased by credit card or with PayPal.
