Restoring the Earned Income Tax Credit - Learn More and Take Action

Dear Friend,

In 2016, the Legislature cut the state Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to help balance the books during a severe budget crisis. As a result, low and  middle-income working families lost nearly $28 million - that's an average of $121 dollars per family. Families that receive the EITC are working hard to stay afloat and make ends meet, and cutting this critical boost to their financial stability was the wrong way to fill the state budget hole.

The good news is that this cut could be reversed this session - but we need your help to make sure that happens! Visit our new EITC website to get more information about the credit and how many people in your county were affected by cuts to the credit. And please use the site to contact your legislators (don't worry, we've provided some talking points for you!) and ask them to support restoring the EITC.

This session, we need legislators to do the right thing for working families and restore the full refundaiblity of the Oklahoma's Earned Income Tax Credit. They've been close before, and we need your help to make sure this is the year it happens.

Thanks,

David Blatt and the OK Policy Team
