Dear Friend, The federal agency that oversees Medicaid is now accepting public comments about the Governor's health care proposal that he has been calling SoonerCare 2.0, which is now under federal review. The deadline to submit a comment is June 27th. Raise Your Voice The Governor’s proposal includes unnecessary barriers to keep deserving Oklahomans from the health care they need. We need to keep pressure on federal officials about why this proposal is bad for Oklahoma. Raise your voice today! Even though the state said it was delaying the launch of SoonerCare 2.0, the proposal is still working its way through the federal approval process. That’s why we are reaching out to you today. Here are some facts about SoonerCare 2.0 to help you craft your comment: • The Governor’s proposal contains barriers to health care coverage, such as work requirements and premiums. Limiting coverage needlessly puts Oklahomans’ lives at risk. • Courts nationwide have thrown out work requirements for Medicaid coverage. States that have attempted to implement work requirements became entangled in lengthy and expensive lawsuits. • Gov. Stitt’s proposal will require building costly, unnecessary bureaucracy that will keep Oklahomans from the health care they need. • The Governor’s proposal was developed without input from the public or many other elected officials. Taxpayers deserve the opportunity to thoughtfully evaluate important decisions like this, rather than having officials hastily assemble and submit a health care plan that few have seen until now. • For more information, visit coverok.org. Oklahomans — by calling for SQ 802 — have said they support full Medicaid expansion in the state. SoonerCare 2.0 is NOT that. It would keep many of our friends and neighbors from seeing a doctor, getting treatment for a chronic illness, or even filling a prescription. Please speak out and ensure that doesn’t happen. P.S. - After you complete your comment, please make sure that you have made your plans to vote on SQ 802 on Tuesday, June 30.
