Dear Friend of OK Policy,

We know you're bombarded with requests for support, but we thought we'd take a tongue-in-cheek approach to share with you the top five reasons NOT contribute to OK Policy:

1. Policy wonks rain on my parade.

We get it; policy wonks aren't exactly the life of the party

OK Policy employs a team of policy analysts, researchers, and organizers to produce reliable, data-driven information to help show how Oklahoma can reverse course to better serve everyday Oklahomans.

2. Fiscal responsibility is for nerds.

Instead of fully understanding how public dollars are spent, let's embrace financial chaos!

Keeping a fiscal eye out on the state's budget process has been OK Policy's focus since Day 1. The state's budget is the people's budget – and we will continue to fight for more transparency and public engagement in the process.

3. I'm OK with our state being Top 10 in all the wrong ways.

Hey, we have some of the nation's highest poverty rates and worst outcomes for our children and family. But at least we're Top 10 in something right?

The Annie E. Casey Foundation's annual KIDS COUNT report shows Oklahoma ranks 49th in education, 43rd in family and community, 38th in economic well-being, and 37th in health. The state has among the worst outcomes in nearly all quality of life metrics. OK Policy believes it doesn't have to be this way.

4. Non-Partisan is Just a Buzzword.

Non-partisan, shmnon-partisan. I want my "facts" to come shaded in either red or blue.

To achieve policy wins in today's highly charged political environment, we know folks from both sides of the aisle need to work together. Since its founding 15 years ago, OK Policy has committed to non-partisan policy solutions that are grounded in reliable data and common sense.

5. Equity is Overrated.

Expanding opportunities for all Oklahomans? Let's stick to the good ol' days of "I got mine, too bad for you."

We believe state government should serve the needs of all Oklahomans, not just the monied interests who can afford influence. By making investments in shared services that work on behalf of everyday Oklahomans, our state can be a place where everyone can be healthy, safe, and thrive.

If you think that Oklahoma is 'doin' fine' after reading this list, then supporting OK Policy is probably not for you. But if you believe in changing the status quo, then go ahead and click on that donate button below to help OK Policy keep fighting the good fight in the year to come.
