Oklahoma lawmakers today are scheduled to consider a bill that would force Oklahomans with severe disabilities to live in the state for five years before they can apply for the specialized medical care they need.

Please contact lawmakers on the Joint Committee on Appropriations and Budget (JCAB) committee today and ask them to vote no on HB 2899. You can also email members of the Joint Committee on Appropriations and Budget using our online tool here, or you can use this Find My Legislator tool.

HB 2899 would impose an arbitrary five-year residency requirement on Oklahomans with disabilities applying for Medicaid waiver services.

Most Oklahomans with disabilities already spend a decade or more waiting for the care they need. The five-year residency requirement will not change the number of Oklahomans who need help. It will just make it harder for them to ask for it.

Please contact members of the Joint Committee on Appropriations and Budget  and ask them to request a hearing and VOTE YES ON SB 131.
