Oklahoma Releases Restrictive Health Care Proposal During Pandemic | Your Voice is Needed!

In the midst of determining our state's responses to a pandemic, Oklahoma officials on Monday released for public evaluation the Governor’s health care alternative that could restrict or limit health care for up to 200,000 residents.

The clock now is ticking on a 30-day window for Oklahomans to comment about this proposal, which is ill-conceived, ill-timed, and shameful. We invite all Oklahomans to speak out today.

Lawmakers had nearly a decade to figure out how to expand Oklahoma’s health care. Meanwhile, a record number of Oklahomans have demanded a vote on SQ 802—calling for full Medicaid expansion. We should respect the will of the voters rather than confusing the issue with a hastily assembled and untested health care proposal.

Current events clearly demonstrate that health care is a public safety issue, and it makes little sense for Oklahoma to continue with a proposal that could keep hundreds of thousands of our friends and neighbors from getting the health care they need.
